地質學（Geology）是對地球的起源、歷史和結構進行研究的學科。主要研究地球的物質組成、內部構造、外部特征、各圈層間的相互作用和演變歷史。

地質學與地球科學的區別

地質學主要是研究地層、構造、巖漿活動、古生物、巖礦、水文地質等與之密切相關的成礦機理；而地球科學一般是對一類學科的總稱，包括研究地震活動、地球物理、地球化學、地理特征、海洋地質等，還包括地質學所有內容。此外還包括地球成因、生物結構、生物進化理論、地球力學理論的學說。廣義的地球科學還可延伸至大氣科學、水文科學領域，甚至是行星科學領域。
